ASHRAE Qatar Oryx Chapter Holds Technical Seminar
The Qatar Oryx Chapter of ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers) held a Seminar on 11 December 2024, for the Engineering community in Qatar at the Meeting Hall of FTC Qatar, attended by about 45 Engineering Professionals in person and 35 persons online.
The Subject of the Seminar was “ENERGY CONSERVATION OF VENTILATION SYSTEMS” and Mohamad Mokdad, (Accredited Grade “A” UPDA & OEA-Lb Eng.) was the Keynote speaker who kept the all the attendees focused throughout the session and answered all the queries at the end of the presentation.
The Speaker has over 25 years’ mechanical engineering experiences with specialization in ventilation Systems, design, technical, manufacturing, R & D, supply & sales. He has a Master’s degree in mechanical engineering with Honors from Lebanese university faculty of engineering in 1998. He is a member of OEA-Order Engineers & Architect of Lebanon (Permit number 20340) and accredited Grade A Engineer in Qatar (UPDA-Engineering Registration card No. 10787). Mohammad Mokdad is one of the founders of ASHRAE Qatar oryx chapter in 2008 and had different posts in the BOG-Board of Governors such as CTTC-Committee Technology Transfer Chair & others. Currently he is the president Elect of ASHRAE Qatar Oryx Chapter.
In his Presentation the Speaker discussed the importance of energy conservation in ventilation systems along with comparison versus the traditional systems according to standards, local authority criteria requirements, Fan laws, and practical examples. He also elaborated on the ways to design ecological systems, selecting the proper filters modules, where to install, roles in saving energy etc. He also discussed on the constraints and challenges during testing & Commissioning works and during the Operation & Maintenance works and also provided engineering solutions.
Hassan Sultan, The Chairman of the Advisory Board for the Chapter in his closing remarks urged the attendees to take up the professional membership of ASHRAE and get the advantage of the various technical benefits associated with it. He presented ASHRAE Lapel Pin to the new ASHRAE member Rohitashya Banerjee. Wissam Salameh and Mohammed Mokdad Coordinated as Hosts and conducted the Event. Seenu Pillai Compeered and Conducted the Event. The Speaker and FTC Qatar were felicitated by Hassan Sultan at the end of the event for their contribution.
