ASHRAE Qatar Oryx Chapter Holds Technical Seminar

The Qatar Oryx Chapter of ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers) held a Technical Seminar on 15 October 2024, for the Engineering community in Qatar at the Meeting Hall of FTC Qatar, attended by about 65 Engineering Professionals in person and 30 persons online. An Important topic of the present-day relevance “Healthcare Engineering: A Case Study of ASHRAE V/s HTM in OT & CSSD” was deliberated on by the speaker today. Anto Thilak, an engineer with an MBA, LEED AP, PMP, HFDP, and CHFM and a certified health facility manager by American Hospital Association, was the Keynote speaker who kept the all the attendees focused throughout the session and answered all the queries at the end of the presentation. In his presentation, the presenter spoke about the numerous codes and standards which are available globally, including HTM/HBN from the UK, ASHE/ASHARE/NFPA from the USA, WHO guidelines, and more. The seminar shed light on untold aspects of codes, standards, and guidelines, along with providing essential contractual knowledge necessary for techno commercial engineering decisions; besides articulating with evidence of case study to establish that cherry picking from different codes and standards is a concern to be clearly understood by Clients, engineers, and contractors.

Hassan Sultan, The Chairman of the Advisory Board for the Chapter in his closing remarks urged the attendees to take up the professional membership of ASHRAE and get the advantage of the various technical benefits associate with it. He also spoke about the various planned events for the ASHRAE Oryx Qatar Chapter. Wissam Salameh and Mohammed Mokdad Coordinated as Hosts and conducted the Event. The Speaker and FTC Qatar were felicitated by Hassan Sultan at the end of the event for his contribution.
